Chunky Move 1

Chunky Move 1

£1200

This acrylic painting is part of the Dance series on paper, created early 2016. Inspired by watching dance first and then working from memory Chunky Move is named after the Australian Choreography company. I love to work from dance choreographers such as Chunky Move,  Sol Leon and Jiri Kylian.

This piece was one of the later ones of the series, it flows and has a very spontaneous approach. I was attempting to capture the spirit as well as movement of the dance I had watched. The vivid blues and pinks sparkle from the glowing whites of the  underlying watercolour paper.

The piece measures 76 x 56cm unframed, and 1m x 820 framed. It is painted with fluid acrylics on Bockingford Watercolour Paper

Professionally framed with off white mount and ready to hang, signed this is a unique original.

New Feeling

New Feeling

Sold

Another of the Dance series on paper, this unique original, acrylic painting has an uplifting and dark feel all together I had just finished painting  it when the Paris  terrorist attacks took place and for me it symbolises hope and also desperation. It is inspired by the choreographer Sol Leon and it has a real stage feel with strong lighting, this series really focuses on giving figures a 'setting' inspired by my own intuition.

New Feeling has a total of five dancers in making it one of  the busiest stage pieces. Creating this series I felt as if I had also become a dance choreographer, lighting technician and set designer; designing my own stage sets and placing dancers in particular positions.

Professionally framed with off white mount and black frame and ready to hang, signed. Created 2016

Quests

£1200

Quests followed the steps of New Feeling and was completed directly afterwards. This piece attempts to depict movement within a circle of dancers.  The unexpected elements of this piece was the intensity of the blues which glow in an incredible way.  This Dance series on paper was a real turning point in itself. I started to work with fluid colour on wet paper letting a lot of the colour and flow do its own thing. Working without brush and allowing colours to mix freely gives a beautiful glow to the pieces.

This method of working is usually associated with watercolour. The result using acrylics is that you have a much more 'light fast and permanent' painting. The intensity of acrylic colour is also much more vivid than watercolours can give.

The piece measures 76 x 56cm unframed, and 1m x 820 framed. It is painted with fluid acrylics on Bockingford Watercolour Paper

This is currently unframed but would be professionally framed with the frame of your choice ready to hang, signed. Created early 2016
