What inspires me to paint dancers? This is a question, one of many that I ask myself when I am looking to create a new piece of work. I often source my inspiration from attending dance (highlights are often at Sadlers Wells in London) but if I am not able to visit live dance I turn to YouTube.
For this series one of my inspirations was titled 'Vertigo', choreographed by Noa Wertheim.
Sometimes, if possible, I email to a client a link of the dance that inspired that particular painting. Somehow it finalises the connection from inspiration to painting to final destination and hopefully creates a link between my feeling in the painting and what I saw in the dance.
The latest series of paintings, including the painting Vertigo will be on show at the Brighton Art Fair, 24 - 27 September 2015
