Festivaltime in May
Artists Open Houses 4 weekends all over Brighton
The venue is 31 Havelock Road, Brighton and it is four weekends in May. The open house is in the Fiveways Artists area which lies just east of Preston Park in Brighton. Best way to get there is by public transport, parking now has become tight and it is great fun to walk to the open houses on a lovely May day. Many houses have tea and cake and are happy to let you know how far the next open house is to walk to. May sees the city of Brighton come alive and with so much to see it really gets both myself and Frances back into spring and exhibiting after a long winter of making and creating. We are then exhibiting in Brighton together for a 2 man show in July and September.
Frances, my good friend of over 30 years, along with Henry open up their lovely house not far from Preston Park. Frances has over the years produced some stunning large scale ceramics and this year they have just got even better. Frances invites other artists along to share her house, besides myself and this year there are six of us in total. I am really excited to be showing with my partner, photographer Roy Matthews who has produced some stunning 'light paintings'. These rich, atmospheric still life arrangements are so reminiscent of paintings that when he exhibited at the house before people were stopping and getting up close to really examine to see if they were paintings or photographs
I have lots of new work to exhibit, works on paper and the annual large painting which I do especially for the house each year. New this year are the smaller new works on paper which you can see in the On Paper gallery here
